Death awaits the curious!

Out along the rim of the galaxy hangs a loose configuration of some 60 stars known as the Faustian Chain. This whorl of sparkling suns is rich in planets and occupies an irregular volume of space some 20 light years in diameter. From an external viewpoint, the Chain presents a colorful display of plasma-streams, luminous nebulae and sparkling pinpoints of light. The human colonists who settled the Chain were aware the region had recently been populated by other species - beings that had all but vanished after waging devastating wars thousands of years in the past. Little was known of them, but certain areas in which their artifacts still persisted were proscribed by interstellar law.

Mech Zero is a novella by best-selling author B. V. Larson. Set at the beginning of the Imperium Series, this story is a prequel to the outbreak of war. The series involves early human colonies in a region of space previously occupied by a vicious alien species.

Mech Zero The Dominant (Audible Audio Edition) B V Larson Mirron Willis Audible Studios Books

This is a prequel to the Mech series. As it does not require you to be familiar with the series, I recommend this novella to new comers. However, I strongly recommend this series (Mech 1: The Parent, Mech 2: The Savant and Mech 3: The Empress).

This series has never disappointed me and has always delivered the high entertainment I seek. This fantastic novella packed a lot of wallop of a story in only 57 pages. The authored cover all basis in this story, which was short but well written and flowed smoothly. Hopefully there will be more Imperium mischief to come beyond Mech 1-3.

I highly recommend this novella and series to fellow SF readers and also recommend to fellow dark urban fantasy readers who are looking for a good space opera but do not want to end up with a space romance.

Mech Zero The Dominant (Audible Audio Edition) B V Larson Mirron Willis Audible Studios Books Reviews

Completed the Savant book last night and looking forward to the next in the series. Love the fully realized alien species with their single-minded pursuit of extreme dominance. Great political machinations and send-up of humans and their politicians caught up in their paradigms of denial, hubris, etcetera. I could just read BV Larson indefinitely.
**** Bad information. Review written for different book "On Siver Wings" not "Mech Zero.

The book creates a credible SF future. The human interest and interactions are good, too. The alien society is detailed nicely and gives the reader an insight into the "enemy". The book creates a nice heroine that is capable of believable tactics and not a superwoman. This makes for interesting reading through the various actions.
I just finished reading the first four books of the Imperium series and I enjoyed them immensely. I read Mech 0 last and it is so short its really just a teaser. I strongly recommend that you don't stop there and continue reading through Mech 1 The Parent, after which I am confident you'll be hooked. They are all good. I was particularly impressed with all the action and twists in Mech 1 The Parent. All in all a very enjoyable series. Will definitely keep reading as fast as BV can write them.
This seems to have been written after some of the books. As a prequel it answers some questions.. Further, it describes key species and how they met. Beneficial reading, I assume. On to book 1.
At first I was disappointed that I had to start another series because I didn't want to give up the Starforce series. Well, that quickly changed. I don't know how he does it, but Larson has a knack for writing really great stories in series and this is no exception. It starts with an entire world setting complete with many kinds of factions, all out to get the upper hand over each other. This part of the story is very entertaining by itself, with tension building between parties to great conflict. But then it hits the fan and pow, no one knows what hit them. The variety of characterization is beautifully done. Larson is a brilliant storyteller, and this one is a gas. Read it, you won't be disappointed.
I have read all of these books and they are some excellent Sci-Fi, Space Opera, whatever. Well worth the prices and a lot of entertainment, and diversion from whatever life troubles you have. I see many people complain about bad grammar and puncuation in these less expensive books. Come on, puh-lease, they are great fun and if it bothers you so much, there are many big name authors with books out you can freely spend your many dollars on to spare your sensibilities. So please just chill with those complaints.
This is a different kind of story!!! I love it and it only gets better when you read it a second time. Do yourself a favor and add the Audible narration and hear this too!!! It's worth it to support BVL to create great reads like this. Don't forget to put up some stars and review to show your support!!!
